This tutorial was made in PSP 8, but can also be made in the other versions.

 

For this lesson you need the following plugins:

Greg's Factory Output Vol. II - Pool Shadow

VM Distortion - Center Mirror

It contains: gold pattern - font.

Place the pattern in your Pattern folder.

Open the font and minimize it.

 

The star tube is by Zial.

If you use it, continue at step 7.

 

Step 1

Open the tube in PSP - minimize them for now.

Set your foreground color to #f6f4f1 (or at your choice).

Set your background color to #234819 (or at your choice) and to gold pattern 'goudglitter' - Angle - - Scale 100.

Step 2

Open a transparent image of 100 x 100 pixels.

You start making a star.

Step 3

Close your foreground color.

Your background is on the gold pattern.

Step 4

Activate your Preset shape tool with these settings:

Step 5

Draw a beautiful big star.

If you are satisfied, you can save it as an picture tube.

File - Export - Picture tube - give it a name and click save.

You can close your star, you don't need it anymore.

Step 6

Open a new transparent image of 200 x 300 pixels.

Activate your Picture tube - find the star you just made.

Set the scale to 50 and make 3 stars.

Set the scale now to 25 and make different stars.

Set the scale to 10 and decorate the star bow with little stars.

My stars look like this:

If you are satisfied:

Edit - Copy - Paste as a new image.

If you want to use it again, save it as a PSP image.

Effects - 3D effects - Inner bevel - with these settings:

Step 7

Open a new transparent image of 600 x 600 pixels.

Copy your star.

Paste as a new layer on your working image.

Place it almost in the upper left corner.

Layers - Duplicate - Image - Flip.

Activate the original star again.

Layers - Duplicate - Image - Mirror.

Layers - Duplicate - Image - Flip.

Effects - 3D effects - Drop shadow:

Vert and Hor 4 - Opacity 80 - Blur 10 - color #d7cd87.

Repeat 1x with the same settings.

Step 8

Copy the tube you want to use.

Paste as a new layer on your working image.

Effects - Plugins - VM Distortion - Center Mirror - with these settings:

Lower the Opacity of this layer to 60.

Step 9

Copy your tube again.

Paste as a new layer on your working image.

Effects - 3D effects - Drop shadow:

Vert and Hor 4 - Opacity 80 - Blur 10 - background color (or a dark color from your tube).

Layers - Merge - Merge visible.

Edit - Copy.

Image - Resize - 300 x 300 pixels.

Step 10

Open a new transparent image of 400 x 400 pixels.

Paste as a new layer on this working image.

Move it a little up, so you can place the text.

Step 11

Layers - New raster layer.

Activate your Text tool - Font almosnow (in PSP Almonte Snow) - with these settings:

Close your foreground color.

Type your text.

Place it at the bottom of your crea.

Selections - Select none.

Step 12

Activate your Magic wand - Add (Shift) - Feather and Tolerance 0 - Anti alias not checked.

Click in the open parts of the letters, but not in the middle of the R and the A.

Selections - Modify - Expand - 1 pixel.

Layers - New raster layer.

Layers - Arrange - Move down.

Flood fill the selection with white.

It now seems as if there is snow on the letters.

Selections - Select none.

Close all layers, except the text and the snow layers.

Activate your text or snow layer.

Layers - Merge - Merge visible.

Open all layers, but stay on your text layer.

Effects - 3D effects - Inner bevel - same settings as before.

Layers - Merge - Merge visible.

Edit - Copy - Paste as a new image.

Step 13

Layers - New raster layer.

Layers - Arrange - Send to bottom.

Flood fill this layer with a nice color from your tube.

You can also use a texture or gradient.

Layers - Merge - Merge all (Flatten).

Step 14

Set your foreground color to black (#000000)

Set your background to your gold pattern.

Image - Add borders - Symmetric checked - 3 pixels - foreground color.

Select this border with your Magic wand - Feather and Tolerance 0 - Anti alias not checked.

Flood fill the selection with your gold pattern.

Step 15

Image - Add borders - Symmetric checked - 20 pixels - background color.

Select this border with your Magic wand.

Effects - Plugins - Greg's Factory Output Vol. II - Pool Shadow - default settings.

Image - Add borders - Symmetric checked - 3 pixels - foreground color.

Select this border with your Magic wand.

Flood fill the selection with your gold pattern.

Selections - Select none.

Save your crea as a jpg file and you're done!
